Why Doctor?

          Sometimes when I meet people. They start to ask me " What are you taking for your degree?" and I said "Medicine, Insya-Allah" just simple as that. Some do encourage me and others discourage me. It's not that bothering me the most. I've decided to take medical field instead of others. That's my final decision. Nobody can influence me.

          " Zafiq, why you want to be a doctor?.". That's the most interesting question for me. Beginning, I didn't really into a doctor. It's just my childhood ambition only because when I was a child my mother just told me to be a doctor just to fill my report card. Haha, that was so hilarious. I was so naive by that time but now not anymore. I really know what is doctor. They have to work 24/7, not enough sleep, what all they know is work, work, and work non stop.

          For me, even though all the hard challenges await me when become a doctor. It will not extinguish my will of fire to become a doctor.

Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people."

Al-Baqarah [2:286 ]

That's why, I don't afraid of the challenges await me. Rasulullah saw. had met so many challenges far more greater than me but he still patient with his work. Why not me?. For me,becoming a doctor is a collective obligation ( fardh kifayaah). As a muslim, it's my responsibility to take care others.

 Narrated Anas:

The Prophet said, "None of you will have faith till he wishes for his (Muslim) brother what he likes for himself." (Sahih Bukhari)

         Besides that, I want to help my family. Why? though I am the youngest in my family and all my brother and sisters have all grown up especially when your bothers and sisters are more like your parents age ( no offense to my brothers and sister..hehe) , it feel like I have to carry a huge responsibility to help my family especially my mum. Some says that " When you become a doctor you don't have time even to call your mum.", I think it's only an excuse. When there is a will, there is a way also. I actually aware that become a doctor you really have a limited time. You don't have time even though to fill up your stomach.Nevertheless, it's my responsibility as a son to take care of my mother.

          I think the main reason why I want to be a doctor is to prove that I can be not just as a normal person but a very useful person to my religion, my ummah and my family and to prove that we are not weak.
